The 5 series machines have a lot of goodies from the 7 series, including the massive bobbin which has 70% more thread than the standard bobbin, but just on a smaller and more portable frame!
If you are not into that many features, the Bernina 535 is a lovely humble little sister to the 570QE, boasting the same framework as the 570QE, but without the automatic presser foot lifter or integrated dual feed. It has the automatic thread cutter, touch screen and a 5.5mm stitch area which is great for dressmakers and quilters (which is the secret behind its perfect straight stitch!). Another lovely thing about this machine is that you have the option of adding on the BSR foot and embroidery unit at a later date. So, there may be a few less bells and whistles at the time of purchase, but you aren’t limiting your future, plus you get the same quality and same 8.5" arm as the 570QE, but at a very attractive price!

The basic settings can be individually adjusted and saved as a favoruite stitch which can be really handy for quilting and for dressmaking.
Thanks to the automatic thread cutter, your threads are cut automatically and the needle will be lifted afterwards.
The extended freearm offers 8.5" right of the needle gives you a longer arm for those bigger projects.
The Sewing Consultant helps you to find the right settings on the easy to navigate touch screen. You can also adjust suggested alterations quickly with the multifunction-knobs.
This machine is embroidery capable, so if down the track you would like to give embroidery a go, you just buy the embroidery module as an optional extra and you are set to embroider with the inbuilt stitches along with whatever suits your fancy from downloadable embroidery stitches.
Many features can be customised to your liking easily our favourites are how many times the tie off ‘knots,’ and opting if the cutter is used when pressing certain buttons to end the stitching sequence.
