The Bernina 8 series overlocker is THE ultimate when it comes to garment construction!
The L850 is threaded with much ease and speed thanks to the lower loopers having air-threading technology, and the needle threader which works just like a sewing machine. Please see the link here to see how the magic threading works!
The L850 boasts not only quick and easy threading but also a slide on table giving you much more space for movement of larger pieces of fabric. When you remove the table, you have access to the free arm making cuffs and childrens’ clothing a breeze. The Bernina Free Hand System (FHS) allows you to raise and lower the presser foot with your knee so you hands are both free to handle the fabric, and it also comes with the famous Bernina needle up/down function on your foot control. So between these two functions you have complete control of your fabric while overlocking as you do on the the Bernina sewing machines. Brilliant!
In addition, the presser foot easily swings out for convenient access to the needles and for ease of placing lower threads under the foot before starting to sew. This machine features mtc (Micro Thread Control - simply put, allows micro adjustments to the over-the-edge thread loops - it means you don't have to fiddle with tensions to get things just right!), 3-9mm stitch width, 400-1500 stitches per minute (spm), and a thread catcher. The lower and upper looper air-threading system means its quicker, easier and there is much less room for mis-threading
With the BERNINA Free Hand System (FHS) you can raise and lower the presser foot with your knee. This noticeably improves clearance under the presser foot, which in turn facilitates fabric handling. You will save time and achieve perfect results!
The BERNINA Foot Control and DC motor allow a top speed of up to 1,500 stitches per minute but also stitch by stitch sewing. This makes it easy to work with delicate or heavy fabrics that require extra care in handling. The needle automatically stops in the up position, but can be put on the down position by pressing down on the foot control with your heel - genius!
The slide-on table extends the sewing area to the left of the needle. It allows large fabrics to be guided more easily and gives a better overview onto the sewing project.
The patended mtc (Micro Thread Control) saves you significant time and effort while ensuring consistent high-quality stitches, since you need only set thread tension once – even if you alter the cutting width and fabric thickness! The mtc fine tunes over edge threads and allows you to sew up to 9mm wide
The most commonly used accessories are located in the looper cover, neatly arranged and ready to be used. The additional accessory box holds the seam guide, spool caps and tools. A range of optional feet for your creative overlocking is available.
